“Philip is a phenomenal teacher of human language, behavior and psychology.”
~ Michael Guenza, USA

“In Philip’s classroom, we didn’t just learn principles and ideas, we experienced them through his presence and actions. His wisdom, professionalism, calming spirit, gentle sense of humor, wealth of experience, and respect for human dignity have shaped me as a learner and as a university faculty member. PS I still consider you one of the all-time best teachers I’ve ever had.”
~ Dr Oliver S. Crocco, Louisiana State University, USA

I accidentally became a teacher in late 1991 in Bangkok, Thailand. This then turned into a completely unplanned emigration. I was 27. I simply had no prior inkling that this could have become my life, teaching adults and living in Thailand. Thank you universe for bringing me to my vocation, and to a country that instantly captured my spirit, soul, love and sense of adventure!

However, it’s not so surprising to me in retrospect, because I have always loved learning. Since the teaching work I had stumbled into was getting Thai adults and university students to communicate in English, even as I was teaching I was constantly learning for myself.

I had to learn our English language all over again so that I could teach it as well as communicate in it. I had to make clear to myself how learning takes place so that I could motivate and inspire my students to learn and love learning. When we love learning, life feels good. This is what I teach: the learning and communication skills.

On ‘tour’ at Mawlamyine University in Myanmar, training new teachers to train adults. With my lovely wife in Wales, at a local Hindu temple, in work mode.

I’ve had just the greatest blast imaginable, teaching something like 4000 students, including about 400 language teachers in my last job, at Payap University in Chiang Mai in the north of Thailand. Now, however, comes my greatest challenge yet: to radically transform the way education is done in the schools. That means first educating the educators - teachers, parents, home educators, leaders, healers, world helpers, entrepreneurs, activists, life coaches, in fact, all adults!

I have therefore built the Academy for A Spiritual Revolution to carry out this training. If you are thinking of learning with me, this page on my website is dedicated to the words of my students. See what they say about learning with me >>>

When you discover the joy of learning you discover the joy of living.
When you master the skill of learning you master the skill of living.

“Ajarn Philip is an exceptional teacher I had the fortune to have taken classes with. He has a special gift in drawing students out of their shells to participate in class, even with a shy and normally reserved person like me. Classes with him challenged students to express, reason and make the process of learning enjoyable. He is definitely one of a handful of educators who has left a deep impression on my academic career.”

Grace Dee, Myanmar

“I have come across many outstanding teachers, but Philip is an extraordinary teacher who is able to connect with his students of all ages. He always respects every student’s ideas and opinions with a positive attitude and wonderful rapport.”

Nang Ji, Myanmar

“From the first lesson with Philip I always felt highly engaged in the learning process he created. As the course went on, my classmates and I always knew that Philip’s forthcoming lessons would be absorbing, energising, and fulfilling experiences. Forever keeping us on our toes by inviting us to discuss and reflect on probing questions and insights, mean that those fun times spent with him are highly memorable and valuable, classroom experiences that I seek to replicate with the students in my own teaching life.”

Rick Mann, England

“Each time I walked into the classroom, I knew that my class taught by Philip would be well organized, engaging, reflective, and most importantly, meaningful. Philip’s relaxed demeanor makes teaching look easy, and his caring personality puts the learners at ease.”

Eric D, USA

“Philip is undoubtedly one of the best teachers I have ever had. He has his unique ways to involve his students and get authentic opinions out of them, promoting a peer learning experience. I have learned so much from him not just in terms of the subject that he was teaching but also his style of getting the subject matter conveyed. The learning experience was more than just learning; in his classroom we evolved and became a better teacher. He taught with passion… His classes were a source of joy to us, and we were always looking forward to each one of them.”

Bonny Toufic, USA

“Philip is the the kind of teacher who will not focus on the theory. He'd get us up and moving to practice in class what we would need to do in our classrooms once we were in the field. At times, it took us out of our comfort zone, but Philip understood that's what we needed to succeed as professionals. I have grown as the professional I am today because of great teachers like Philip, who allowed me to be myself and encouraged me to follow my dreams.”

Tatiana Aline Mohler, Brazil

“Philip’s non-conventional approach to language learning has truly been an eye-opener for all who  have attended his classes, and has personally contributed greatly to my success as an English educator. This approach that Phil taught allowed the learners to take control of their own learning by developing new language skills in “real time usage” while engaging in group activities to complete tasks.

Joshua Wax, USA

“Philip far exceeded any expectation I had of what a good teacher should be. He asked deep questions which planted seeds of continued self-development in his students. Philip encouraged us to go beyond just teaching English, to considering our role as one in which we could make the world a better place. Philip really taught me a lot and what he taught me is behind so much of my current teaching practice and self-development. He has a true teaching spirit.”

Oliver Dilly, England

“Philip was a great teacher. Not only was he thorough and paid the utmost attention to detail, but I remember him especially as being a superb role model for us to follow.”

Samantha Burman, Thailand

“He knows how to teach. He showed me, not taught me, how I should behave in a second language classroom.”

Liz NIng, China

“In my experience, Philip possesses the right mix of qualities exemplifying a superior teacher. Whenever I attended his classes, he was prepared and organized in his approach. He presented new information in a clear and understandable manner while capturing and maintaining my attention. He did his research and was deeply knowledgeable on whatever subject he introduced.  Philip’s classes often challenged me to think for myself and question my own ideas and strongly held beliefs. He gave useful feedback and guidance in a sincere and respectful manner. He demonstrated a keen desire to teach and educate not only others, but himself as well. I credit Philip with being one of the few teachers in my life that really inspired me to look at learning as a life long pursuit.”

Chris, USA

“I always looked forward to his classes as they were so interactive and infused with a strong sense of learner autonomy. For me he was always a mentor. My heartfelt gratitude to him for where I am today.”

*NB I contacted some of my old students in 2021 to ask them to write a testimonial for me. This feedback, therefore, represents their recollections a few years later. All other feedback on this page was from students during or after the courses, so I’m not including their names.

In the summer of 2024, I was invited to deliver a three-session online course in Facilitative Leadership Skills and Self-Growth for about 250 spiritual leaders of a global organisation. Here is some of the feedback that I received.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the session and loved your talks. They were absolutely packed with valuable information for our [leaders] on how to be the best facilitators they can be.” (The Leader of the organisation)

“More time with Philip, he is so professional, and love his servant spirit. I want to be more like him, and really enjoy his delivery.”

“Anything Philip has to offer! He is very good at what he does. It was truly a blessing to learn from these sessions. How you were able to bring in so much wisdom and experience in these three sessions is truly amazing to me!”

“Thank you so much. Your questions were so great. Each of them opened a room for brain and heart to talk about and to learn together. Great! God bless you!”

“Thank You Philip … the info you shared felt like psychology on steroids.”

“Philip at this point it's hard to improve on what I see as perfection. The whole point of this session is to build one's Inner Authority and you are doing that. As time goes by we will build ourselves to grow and put forward our style to empower and guide others so they can grow and flourish.”

“Loved your sessions very much - thank you Philip 💖”

“Philip, Thank you so much for your time, dedication, love, and wonderful training session. Many blessings from Washington, USA.”

“Thank you Philip for imparting your wisdom, experience and knowledge to support us being better facilitators!!”

“Thank you Philip for your excellent course for all of us and for sharing your expertise and ebook. You are very much appreciated!”

“This course was incredible! I gained a multitude of insights and understanding. Insight into myself and the world as a whole, insights and understanding about sovereign leadership, the role and purpose of the leader, and the process and framework of an event. I gained lots more awareness about myself as a human being and how I can contribute to humanity as a whole in a positive and supportive way. This course gave my life's purpose more depth, clarity, motivation, curiosity, humbleness, excitement, and direction.”

“To facilitate to so many cultures is challenging and you did a fantastic job Philip. Thank you.”

“This has been very useful and also entertaining training Philip, thank you for this wonderful opportunity!”

“The fact that it makes one think deeply about education and its impact on our current society. It's now easy to see how so many people fell for the pandemic lies and propaganda.”

“We only had compliments. Thank you Philip. You kept our interest engaged. Love from South Africa”

“It was again a great meeting - rich in learnings and insights.”

“Thank you for such an inspiring and thought provoking meeting Philip!!!”

“This was incredibly valuable. Thank you!”

“Thank you very much, Philip!  I thoroughly enjoyed tonight's gathering and learned a ton!”

“Thank-you Philip! This is so valuable, inspiring, and encouraging!”

“Thank you so much, Philip, your ‘classes’ are memorable and an absolute pleasure.”

“Thank you Philip!! I have learned so much from you. What great wisdom that you have taught us and shared.”

“I feel like a better listener and leader for having been under your tutelage!”

“Thank you so much Philip. This was such a great session. I learned FAR more than I expected.”

“Thank you very much Philip for sharing all this knowlegment! Was amazing experience!”

“Much gratitude for facilitating the new paradigm shift for mankind.”

“You rock Philip 😎💥😘”

“I think this should be in elementary schools training - the world would be a better place for all.”

“This was wonderful! I realized what happened to me through my life and why I am the way I am.”

“Thank you so much! Very informative and interesting not to mention transformative!!!! Thank you Philip!”

“The course has changed my perspective of myself and the world because of it. This course gave me a unique and new experience, it helped me observe myself in a new light and is guiding me with my own inner work. I discovered my resistance that was standing in the way of becoming a good listener and how to change that.”

“Philip's sessions should become a permanent and repetitive fixture/feature of the [leader’s] Learning tool box. There is nothing to improve we just need more of Philip so much so that it becomes absorbed into our corporate culture.”

“Excellent session!!! Very motivating and alive! Fun and engaging!”

“Giving all an open door to express in learning and teaching one another. Beautiful! Thank you, Philip!”

“Thank you Phillip; wonderful and excellent learning session today!”

“Thank you Philip - I learned so much, and am looking forward to more.”

“Thank you Philip, that was loaded with practical knowledge and excellent hints.”

“The way you explained and made sure everyone understood was good. I loved your authenticity as a facilitator. Being yourself as a facilitator is quite impressive.”

“Philip thank you very much for this great session!  You have impressed me very much.  I taught and trained in Japan for many years, so I know how skillful you are.”

“The presenter’s knowledge and authenticity - walking his talk and talking his walk, interaction of the group and positive energy created - time did fly by!”

“The three sessions tied in beautifully together. As a whole, the greatest understanding I have gained is to create and maintain a positive environment where people can share and be heard. The art of listening has been the greatest insight that I plan to implement, not only as a facilitator, but in my daily life with all communications.”

Feedback from teacher students taking various other courses I taught at Payap University

“Philip always motivates us to speak a lot. Everybody becomes talkative in his lesson. He always chooses the attractive activities.”

“His teaching methods and skills are so interesting that it has made the course a most enjoyable experience to the students. He is always so patient with the students.”

“I felt busy and thirsty in almost every period of class because we were highly motivated to engage in all kinds of class activities. In this open system of teaching, we never felt worried about whether our answers are right or wrong, and from the discussion we draw conclusion by ourselves. I’m much amazed at the teacher’s skillful organization of the class.”

“What I have thought of this class is that it is fun, the atmosphere is really laid back and everybody feels comfortable. I’m a bit shy, I don’t really like speaking but within this class I don’t mind speaking out. I am not afraid of saying something wrong because Philip has created this atmosphere where my opinion seems valuable and he will never make me feel bad.”

“Philip really taught me a lot and what he taught me is behind so much of my current teaching practice and self-development. He has a true teaching spirit.”

“I most benefitted from Philip because of his way/style of teaching. He uses his heart and warm empathic humanistic qualities to show a great way to relate to people as people and to teach everyone with love and respect.”

“One of Phil's gifts is the ability to effortlessly bring out the best in others while imparting knowledge with great wisdom.”

“Concerning the teaching of reading, Mr Philip’s instruction totally changed my view.”

“All of the 5s I marked were earned. I honestly feel this class was the most practical of all the courses. Also, this was learning by doing every hour of every class. Without a single slide every concept was illustrated at length. Downright exceptional.”

“Another very enjoyable course - all of Philip’s courses have heavily influenced my teaching for the better, and made me think deeply about what I am doing.”

“Very engaging and thought-provoking. Great fun and highly practical, really useful building blocks for highly effective teaching. Thank you!”

“Another inspirational course from Philip that further strengthened the Task-Based Learning procedure in us.”

Philip is an excellent teacher and keeps things very interesting in class. By observing how his classes are run I will know how to use a task-based method in my own teaching.

He is one of the best teachers I have ever had in my life. I learnt a lot and applied it in my teaching too. Thank him for all of this.

Good course, very interesting and stimulating. Really enjoyed it a lot, I am fully satisfied with this course. Top job!

Really useful and thoroughly enjoyable and engaging course, and extremely well taught. Interesting content that maintained interest. Thanks very much!

Another great course, sorry we won’t have more to come. Definitely learned a lot of things that I can apply to my teaching, and the course has opened up my mind and given me an invaluable tool (inquiry) with which to move forward with. The fives awarded on this sheet weren’t given lightly. Nice one Philip! Great job!

Very effective. He should get more courses to teach at all levels.

I really like this course, the objective is very clear. It brings me positive change to my life too.

Yes. One word: Philip. He makes this course. People/teachers like him are hard to come by… I most benefitted from watching Philip exemplify what he was teaching us and listening to comments after teaching practice.

Absolutely! As a intensive course it was well structured and highly effective in learning teaching. It is very progressive, motivating and appropriately challenging.

Yes. I definitely learned a whole lot. The course was fun and challenging. Phil was an excellent teacher.

Have Philip be smarter and cooler… oh wait… that actually isn’t possible, never mind then!

“What I have thought of this class is that it is fun, the atmosphere is really laid back and everybody feels comfortable. I’m a bit shy, I don’t really like speaking but within this class I don’t mind speaking out. I am not afraid of saying something wrong because Philip has created this atmosphere where my opinion seems valuable and he will never make me feel bad. I enjoy how honest he is with us (he tells us his secret methods). He really teaches us how he goes about teaching every class. Philip presents us with the topic in a very interesting manner. Resulting in a more efficient learning. The students are more captivated and attentive.”

“Philip’s input sessions always elicit my thinking about how to be a great teacher. He not only makes an example of an enthusiastic inspiring teacher himself with his energy, smile and well-organization, but also encourage everyone in class to be actively involved in heated discussion about various aspects, including how to be a good teacher, how to be a good learner. In specific classroom activities, Philip embodies his idea in his diversified and skilful teaching methods..”

I published my first book in 2021, and this will stand as the main ‘text book’ for the complete journey of self-inquiry leading to self-knowledge and spiritual and psychological self-growth. I thought it would take me a year to write, but it ended up taking 8 years!

I put everything I have learned into it. If you want to read and listen to the start of the book, head over to this page on the website.

Menu For A Spiritual Revolution: Health Harmony & Happiness

“Join rebel teacher and spiritual warrior, Philip Keay, on an epic adventure of healing and self-discovery, as he shares his secrets and strategies for a spiritual revolution.”

“Fabulous book, I really enjoyed doing all the tasks. Reading this book has really enhanced my spiritual journey and I would thoroughly recommend it.” ~ Mrs B on Amazon

“Seekers of enlightenment, men and women wishing to change their way of life, pilgrims in quest of truth and meaning - all will gain from reading and absorbing this eminently practical book: not just a guide to self-discovery and serenity but a route map with clear sign-posts: engaging and generous, accessible and candid: a vital work for these troubled times.” ~ Nicolas Rothwell, author of Red Heaven, winner of the Prime Minister's Literary Award for fiction in Australia, 2022

“Phil Keay's book "Menu For A Spiritual Revolution" had a great effect on how I perceive things and changed my life in a positive direction.

It's very special as Phil guides you on one hand but encourages you to find your own way to a greater state of consciousness and also harmony within.

The insights and revelations create an understanding of life itself and provide many answers - like finally finding the missing key to reach the treasure of your own soul.

With a grateful heart.” ~ Barbara Miesi in Thailand

“Mr Keay’s book, A Spiritual Revolution, is a very interesting account of the malaise that society has entered. It not only details, with considerable wit and clarity, the problems the world is facing, but also offers sensible and timely solutions to the issues. I highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in the way the world is being governed and managed - or rather misgoverned and mismanaged - and would like to be the change they want to see. I was particularly taken with Mr Keay’s commentary on health issues and have taken on board many of the suggestions. There is far more than health in the book though - education, consciousness and genetics to name but a few. Mr Keay is a firm believer in the need for reformation of the education system and presents a compelling argument for such action. I suggest you read and enjoy this fine piece of writing in a quiet atmosphere - perhaps in a hammock on a beach. This would be a fitting tribute to where much of the book was conceived.” ~ Merin Waite (a friend of the author!)
